Who controls your data

What we process

Every requested test measures download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter. If you enable Network Insights, we also process your IP address momentarily to identify ASN, ISP and approximate city/region, plus browser-provided connection hints. We do not store the raw IP address.

If you separately enable Precise Location, your browser asks for GPS permission. Coordinates are rounded to three decimal places before storage, and accuracy is recorded. Where configured, Mapbox converts the point into an area label under permanent-geocoding terms. You can deny the browser request and still run a test.

Why and on what basis

We process the test you request to provide and save your result. Optional network enrichment and contribution to aggregated ISP-quality reporting are based on your consent. You may refuse or withdraw optional consent without losing access to testing.

Who receives insights

NetDey may license aggregated network-quality statistics to connectivity providers, researchers and public-interest organisations. Reports expose ISP, broad location, access type, sample size and aggregate performance. They do not expose individual tests, account details, GPS points, raw IP addresses or cohorts containing fewer than ten tests.

Configured service providers include IPinfo for IP-to-network enrichment, Mapbox for consented reverse geocoding, and hosting/database providers. Production deployment must list the actual vendors, locations, safeguards and cross-border transfer basis used.

Retention and security

Measurement records expire after the configured retention period, currently intended to be 365 days. We use access-controlled APIs, pseudonymous guest deletion tokens, minimum cohort thresholds and server-side enrichment. Production operators must also configure encryption, backups, incident response and access logging.

Your rights

You may withdraw consent, object, request access or correction, export account-linked results, erase your records, and complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Withdrawing consent affects future collection; use deletion below to remove existing measurements.

Automated detection limitations

ISP, location and access-type detection can be wrong when a VPN, carrier gateway, corporate network or reseller is involved. “4G/5G” is grouped where the browser cannot reliably distinguish them.
